Two connections — work to personal, personal to work — keep each calendar aware of the other. Time taken in one shows as taken in the other, so nobody books over your dentist appointment and you never plan a birthday dinner during a release.
What you build
- Work calendar → personal calendar
- Personal calendar → work calendar
Two connections, one each way, because a connection only ever copies in one direction.
Steps
- Connect both accounts from the dashboard. Two accounts is the whole Free allowance — see plans and limits.
- Open the work calendar and tick the personal calendar under Send Events to Calendars.
- Open the personal calendar and tick the work calendar. That is two of the three connections Free includes, so there is one left for something else.
- Wait for the next update. Within 30 minutes on Free, each calendar carries the other's events.
Know before you build it
Every event now exists twice, and each copy is a real event in a real calendar. That is the point — the copy is what makes the time show as taken — but each calendar roughly doubles in size.
The copies arrive stripped by default: each one is named after the calendar it came from, with no description or location. To let full detail through in one direction only — work events readable at home, personal events still private at work — use keep personal event details out of your work calendar. It is the same two connections, and it needs Pro, which is what lets detail through.
Keeping it tidy
- Too much history. On Pro, narrow Sync Historic Events on each calendar. Narrowing a range also removes copies already outside it — how far back and ahead events are copied.
- Birthdays and holidays crossing over. On Pro, Exclusions leave all-day events out.
- Seeing a meeting twice. Check nothing else is copying between these two calendars — the same event appears twice in one calendar.
