Your personal appointments hold their slot on your work calendar as a plain block of time — no title, no notes, no location. Work events still reach your personal calendar in full, so colleagues and administrators see the time is taken and nothing else.
What you build
- Work calendar → personal calendar, full detail
- Personal calendar → work calendar, time only
These are the same two connections as sync your work and personal calendars. The difference is a few settings on each calendar.
Steps
- Build both connections as in that recipe.
- Open the personal calendar and go to Sync Settings.
- Confirm Sync Event Name, Sync Event Description and Sync Event Location are off. They start off on every calendar.
- In Event Name, replace
{{calendar_name}}with what the block at work should say. "Busy" and "Personal" are the usual choices. Event Name is a Pro setting. - Open the work calendar and turn the same three settings on, so work events keep their titles, notes and joining links on the way to your personal calendar. Those three are Pro settings too — see plans and limits.
Which calendar the settings belong to
Sync settings sit on the calendar events are copied from, and they shape everything it sends. Stripping detail on the personal calendar changes only its outgoing copies; work events coming the other way are untouched. What a copied event shows covers the whole section.
The settings are not per receiving calendar. If your personal calendar sends to two places and only one should be discreet, use a times-only calendar link for the discreet audience instead.
Fine-tuning
- Exclusions keep whole categories out of work entirely — all-day birthdays, for example.
- Sync Window on the work calendar keeps far-future events out of it. Narrowing a range also removes copies already beyond it: how far back and ahead events are copied.
- Blank copies where you expected names mean the directions are swapped — copied events arrive without their titles.
Where to go next
- What a copied event shows — every setting used here
- Plans and limits — what else Pro unlocks
- Share your busy times and keep the details private — the same idea, for people instead of calendars
